The Directorate of Education, Delhi has issued a circular directing all recognised schools in Delhi to appoint a medical officer and an assistant — a compounder or a dispenser — on part-time or full-time basis "as may be necessary".
Director Education Amit Singla said under Rule 38 of the Delhi School Education Rules there is a provision for appointing a medical officer "on such part-time or whole-time basis as may be necessary for looking after the health of the children of the school."
Rule 38 states that for girls' schools only woman doctors, compounders or nurses be appointed and in co-educational schools, "not less than one lady doctor or female nurse shall be appointed".
The circular quotes an order issued by the Delhi High Court on August 8, 2012, stating, Rule 38 provides for the schools to have a medical officer and the Medical Crisis Management Committee has also emphasised on this. "Appropriate steps would be for the schools to have such medical practitioners along with paramedic in terms of the Rules," the court order had said. The court had given six months for implementing the order.
The Directorate has given schools a month to comply with the order. "Non-compliance will be taken very seriously and just a fine will not suffice," Singla said. What does this mean for us in the classroom? Just as students need a nurturing environment where they have a voice, feel safe, and have respect, so too, do teachers.
Often we talk about what’s best for students without regard to what’s best for teachers. These two goals aren’t mutually exclusive. Benefiting teachers and making them happy to come to work ultimately benefits the students, too. The researchers at the National Academy of Education concluded that high quality teachers need a higher social status, monetary incentives to stay in the field, good working conditions, and opportunities for meaningful professional development. Students, of course, need high quality teachers.
In a time when schools are slashing budgets and benefits, how can we keep morale up? We can support one another. According to the Metlife survey, new teachers are three times as likely to leave the profession if they feel like their colleagues don’t support them. We might be rushing to the copier before the first bell or setting up a lab, but making time for our fellow teachers is a change we can make today. We might not be able to solve our district’s budget crisis, but we can certainly improve the culture in our corner of the building.ut the teaching environment. Happy teachers are better teachers.

In India teachers were respected since the inspection of teaching when the teachers were called ‘Guru’ and now this term have transformed into ‘Sir’ or ‘Madam’ but the role of teachers has remained the same. Teachers were continued a guiding torch in the society and will remain so in the future too. The Origin of Teachers’ Day in India:
It was due the sacrifice and dedication of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the first Vice-President and the second President of India, who was an ardent supporter of mass education and one of the greatest scholars and teachers of all times. Students, friends and teachers asked him for his permission to celebrate his birthday; he was agreed to do so on the condition that the day would be observed as Teachers’ day instead of his birthday, to honor the efforts of teachers across the country, the teachers who had made our life much more knowledgeable and serving as our beacons of light. Henceforth, India has been celebrating Teachers’ Day on 5thSeptember, since 1962.
The Occasion of Celebration:
The day was observed by the Indians in the schools, in different centers of importance by the performance of lectures, dramas, dance performances, sports, songs and various other programs to entertain their teachers. The specialty of the day is that students of senior classes dress up like teachers and make a show of enjoyment. It was a day of performance to provide for a healthy interaction between teachers and students as well and exchange gifts. The Origin of Teachers’ Day in India:
